My Testimony (about me)

My name is Becca, and I'm 17 years old. I am originally from San Francisco, California, but I moved to Arizona when I was 9. By the grace of God, I have never gotten into drugs, alcohol, sex, or anything like that. I have grown up in church pretty much all my life, and like most of you know, most church kids are apathetic kids. That was pretty much me. I went to church on church days, said God was real because my family said He was real, prayed when I had to, sang along with the worship, raised my hands, had those touches from God here and there, but didn't have a relationship with Him. For the past 3 or 4 years it's been pretty much the same for me. I would go on Spiritual Boot Camp, come home on fire for God, but because I didn't do anything to continue growing I would lose that fire within a few months or less. Over those few years I became a religious, apathetic "Christian". BUT, this year happened to be a totally different year for me. During the fourth of July week God decided it was time to show me what I was doing. I went to California for the fourth of July with the Torres family, and on the way home they sat me down and confronted me about some things they were seeing in my life that concerned them. It was then I realized that I didn't really want a relationship with God, I only wanted the things that came with serving Him. After that meeting I began to pray, (something I hadn't done in months because I never understood the importance of it) and asked God to do something that would cause my life to be changed forever.
Well, my prayer was answered soon thereafter. It came the week before Spiritual Boot Camp and I had no desire to go whatsoever, but God had other plans. Four days before Spiritual Boot Camp started I found out that I was going. I was excited only because I knew even though I didn't want to go, God was planning on doing something in my life, and He did exactly that. During the first few days God began to change my attitude about going, and by the end of the week I had learned how to cry out to God out of desperation for Him. Somehow, in all my confusion about my Christianity, I knew I was desperate for God. I knew I didn't want to wait until I got into drugs, alcohol, and all those other things, in order to realize that God was real. I wanted to know right then and there that God was real, and as I began to cry out during prayer, I began to feel His presence and my desperation for Him grew every passing minute. By the end of prayer, I knew for myself, that God was real. :) The rest of those 2 weeks, we spent abiding in His presence, ministering to other people, and being ministered to. It was amazing! I was given joy like I've never had before, boldness to evangelize, and a heart for prayer!!

I am so excited because not only am I going to keep growing, but I am going to Elijah Generation, where I will be equipped with tools to stay in this good fight and finish my race. I can't wait until Elijah Generation is over so that I can tell you what more has changed in my life and how much farther I will be in my walk with Christ!
